Everything I read said it was safe. My OB recommended it, but her office didn't give it. I made an appointment with my primary care doc, but when I got there, she didn't want to give it to me since I was pregnant. My mom was there with me and we got on our smart phones, did a bunch of quick Googling, and debated back and forth about it. We found that the CDC and ACOG recommended it during pregancy, so we showed my doc. She admitted that she wasn't up to date in her knowledge about it and she went ahead and administered it to me. The idea is that the antibodies will pass from the mother to the baby and protect the child, as a baby cannot be vaccinated until he/she is 3 months old. </p> <p>Lots of women are refusing to have the vaccine as it has never been given to pregnant woman before - and they are concerned that it might cause problems for the baby. I'm leaning towards having the vaccine because I don't want to risk by baby getting whooping cough. </p> <p>I've read that they have been vaccinating women in the US for a few years. Did you get the vaccine? </p>
