I'm wondering the same thing. I have the same issue where my nipple is not touching the side, but my aerola does get sucked into the tube. I don't think the Avent pumps have a smaller flange though, so I think I'm stuck just dealing with it. :(

I was thinking this same thing not too long ago! I'm still getting more milk than LO needs in a day during my 3 pumping sessions so I figured I wouldn't worry about it. I also use the Ameda Purely Yours and heard some not so great things about the flange sizing inserts so I never bought them.

If you decide to change it up, think that you want to go down a size so that less of the areola/breast tissue is in the flange.

I don't know if I should go up a size in flanges here.

I have tiny nipples (TMI sorry), but the areola tissue is getting sucked into the tubing of the flange. My nipples are not touching the sides but my areola/breast tissue is, a lot.

I'm already in a size L. Should I order an XL size from Medela? Or do I need to go smaller so the breast tissue doesn't get yanked in there? I have a couple of M flanges i can try.
