The course is pretty extensive and to maintain your cert you have to complete a # of safety check events &amp; Continuing Ed. They're supposed to re-install your seat AND teach you how to do it too!...</p> <p>Like that poor mom that when to the CHP office &amp; *thought* she was talking to someone who knew their stuff! I was shocked after reading online that so many folks had them checked there.<br /> I had our convertible seats checked. And it was just the nurse that was on at the time of discharge. =/</p> <p>I just saw another mom go &amp; get hers checked by the Highway Patrol where she lives in Cali (never saw any CPST card or any cert proof) that MADE her turn her toddler son ff!</p> <p>I have a feeling that the one we have here would likely just brush me off... most of the ladies that work at that hospital are like that. =/</p> <p>@Pepper: Yay! We bought our convertible carseat at a local baby boutique and the owner is a CPST. They check seats by appointment only, apparently. I don't trust myself... I tried calling three local techs (at PDs) and no one ever got back to me.
