The place was completely empty and we paid $140 before tip to have the place deep cleaned and it was worth every penny. At our final walk-through, the apartment manager said it was one of the cleanest move outs she's ever seen and she's been working at the complex for 5 years. They cleaned the fridge, oven, inside all the cabinets and closets, swept and mopped everything, including the patio and the garage (well, they didn't mop the patio and the garage).
