We haven't done any fruits yet. I just grabbed some at the store this weekend, so we'll try some this week.

I did read that the human taste buds are programmed to like sweet fruits more than veggies, so it's probably a lost cause.

We did start with carrots first, but followed with bananas a few days later. As long as you give both, it really shouldn't have any long-term effects.

Breastmilk is sweeter than any fruit, so if your baby gets that, you're already sunk. I don't buy it, personally. I started with fruits, and my daughter loves all fruits and vegetables.

So far we've done green beans, then asparagus, then sweet potato. Of the three he's liked the asparagus the best!

@mrsjazz: good point

We plan on doing veggies for the whole month before fruit. I think like your DH thinks. I don't know if it'll make any difference at all but at least it'll make me feel better. We're doing veggies, fruits then eventually meats...skipping cereals and any grains all together for that 1st year.

We introduced them around the same time. I don't think it makes a difference. LO is 16 months, and she goes through phases of what she prefers - some days she devours broccoli and could care less about strawberries, and the next day she wants blueberries and turns her nose up at peas.

We introduced them together. I figured breast milk is so sweet so it didn't matter if she had sweet stuff first.

haha i voted marshmallows but we did give charlie veggies first. :)

it honestly doesn't matter though what you start with. they're not going to love veggies more than fruit because you started with them.

We started with a very mildly sweet fruit (avocado) and then vegetables (sweet potato and squash). I'm sure my LO would love marshmallows though!

Until after you'd given vegetables for a while? DH wants to do this in the hope that he'll develop a taste for veggies before we introduce the sweeter stuff.

If you did, how long did you wait before introducing fruits? If you didn't, have you noticed a preference for the sweeter stuff?
