Our ped told us it fine to combine new foods with old foods that we had already tried.

I was pretty diligent about the three-day rule in the beginning, but started to become more lax around 8 months or so. Now LO tries almost everything (except nuts and honey).

I never did that three day wait thing. My daughter ended up having some sensitivities and one genuine allergy to cherries. It was never hard to figure out what had caused it.

We've been super lax with solids, mainly because Australia's guidelines don't promote the one food for three days rule like the US. DD's second meal of solids was a broccoli, peas, and pears combo - she loved it! If you already know peas and pears are ok for your LO, I see no reason not to add broccoli in as well.

We didn't wait 3 days, that's for sure! We just offered her this (and still are...) and are hoping we're lucky? :-)

We introduced foods this way, she had already had applesauce so we added the broccoli in, she likes all vegetables as long as they have a little pear, apple or banana in them.

I typically introduce foods mixed with safe foods. We don't have any history of food allergies, so I'm pretty relaxed with all of te rules.

We were really lax about introducing one food at a time, and so far so good. We don't have any allergies in either of our families, which is one of the reasons that we weren't too worried.

I'd say as long as she has had the other foods, it's ok!

Once LO had foods that she had tried and was okay with, I would introduce one new food mixed with a safe food--so LO tried spinach the first time mixed with sweet potato, etc.

I think it's fine as long as its mixed with something she has already had (the pears and peas). I wouldn't introduce two new foods at the same time (like if you did broccoli and apples) because if she had a bad reaction you wouldn't know which food was the problem.

..or did you also introduce new foods mixed with "safe" foods?

For example, LO loves peas and pears, but has not had broccoli yet. Is it ok to introduce broccoli as a combo with pears and peas? I usually try to make her first foods, but won't be able to make a market run until later today, and I wanted to introduce a new food. We have some combo food pouches and wondered if that was another option for introducing new foods.
