Yes and we had it in school, which I hated, because I didn't have grandparents in the area. I believe it's been renamed "special person day" in my school area.

I did since it sometimes falls on my birthday. In elementary school our grandparents were invited for lunch. This past year I made cards with R's footprint :)

I knew about it because it always falls around my birthday (Sept 8). Growing up, we never really celebrated it though.

I knew there was a grandparents day but so far I have just ignored it since we celebrate the grandparents on mothers/ Father's Day. I will probably continue ignoring it until I just can't any more ;-)

I know about Grandparent's day but I doubt I'll ever celebrate it or encourage the LOs to celebrate it.

When G was in school they always had a grandparents day where they invited the grandparents to come see a performance & get some hand-made things.

I don't think I'd really like making a big celebration separate though. It's really difficult to not celebrate your grandma/pa on Mother's/Father's day just b/c family is usually all together so to celebrate then AND another day just seems like a lot.

I heard about it last year, it was all over Facebook. We never celebrated growing up so I don't think I'll start now. We gave mothers day gifts (homemade card) from lo to her grandparents.

Mother's Day is kind of complicated, with new moms and old moms both being celebrated on the same day. So I did a quick Google to see if there was a Grandma's/Grandpa's day as well!

Turns out there is: in the US, Grandparents Day is "the first Sunday after Labor Day, in September. It falls on ... September 8, 2013." More on the day: "The holiday is expected to grow in significance over the next decade and beyond as the number of grandparents in the United States rises from 65 million in 2011 to 80 million in 2020 as a result of the baby boom. Grandparents in America are also increasingly responsible for child care and support. In 2012 30% of children under five with working mothers were cared for on a regular basis by a grandparent."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Grandparents_Day#United_States

Would you celebrate Grandparents Day? Once you become a Grandparent, would you want a separate day or would you want to still celebrate Mothers's/Father's Day?
