My grades suffered in high school, though, because I was too busy with extra-curriculars. Reading was (and still is!) fantastic! My brothers joke that my mom and I "eat books" becauses they disappear so quickly. We are both content to lounge around reading novels all day.</p> <p>However...I've hated Math since probably 3rd grade, regardless of particular type of Math. It's not my thing. I didn't love Middle School, but it was okay. I didn't love High School either, but that probably explains why I rushed through it and graduated early to start college early. I LOVED learning in my Major! I graduated college at 20. However, I haven't found the motivation to go back for Grad School yet. So I wouldn't say I'm a general "school lover." I have favorite topics.</p> <p>Like other posters said, my FI HATED school growing up and didn't do very well in middle or high school. I attribute a lot of this to the school he was in, the fact that it was a rough period for him at home, etc, because once he went back to school for college he did great and LOVED it. Loved it so much he wishes he could go back. He is a subject-lover too. If he doesn't like the subject, his motivation goes WAY down. Lol. Once Jr. High and High School came around, I really hated it. Social situations have always given me anxiety. And tests, homework, etc were never fun for me.</p> <p>But I did end up going to school for a long time and I was very good at it. But I did really hate it when I encountered a subject that wasn't automatically easy for me (AP Calculus BC kicked my ass!). I just liked going so I hang out with my friends... Especially around 7th and 8th grade when bonds really started to form. I did very well in my studies but didn't love school because of that, it was definitely mostly for social reasons. </p> <p>It wasn't until my senior year of high school did I LOVE learning. It was an AP Bio course I'll never forget... I kept that heavy textbook with me for the longest time (just for sentimental reasons). I think I finally threw it out just a few years ago. I truly started to love learning at that point. I guess I was about 17 yo. I had found that science was really something that interested and motivated me. if I had to name another class I loved and that changed me, it would be trigonometry... and calculus. I loved school so much! I always looked forward to the first day. I would have my book bag packed and ready to go as soon as my parents took me to get supplies.
