With E she was good at first but then turned kinda mean. She told me I was being dramatic when they told me I had platelet issues and I asked if that could make me bleed death. I thought it was a legit question, apparently it was not. I was also worried when they said they would have a team from nicu up there when I deliver just in case (never needed), and she wasn't nice about those worries. Also, when they took my epidural out I couldn't move my left leg, at all. Which is not normal so I got a little worried, she was very rude about having to lift it for me since I couldn't. But the nurse when I was in labor was AMAZING - didn't leave my side once unless it was to get something for me, and was incredibly encouraging even when I was not at all easy to deal with. The nurse that I had overnight and in the morning when I started pushing was fantastic. She helped me push for 3 hrs and then there was a shift change. The one I had for my contractions/epi was very, very caring and helpful. She was way more interested in being chatty and oversharing than in nursing. I got to hear alllll about her kids and her pets and all of their names, what her kids did (and did not) get her for mothers day, all about her divorce and how she got fired from her last job, about how she's basically a hoarder and on and on and on. Not to mention when I first got there and she went to start my IV she was like "I'm not very good at this..." and then she blew my vein, which STILL hurts 10 days later. Oh and she didn't believe me when I told her my water broke. She was like "oh it's probably just your bloody show." I was like ummm there is WAY too much stuff coming out of me for it to be that. And she was like "oh you'd be surprised" and left. Like an hour later she finally checked and big surprise-- my water broke. Sigh. </p> <p>Luckily she was only there the first 9 hrs. The second 9 hrs, which were much tougher on me, I had a difference nurse who was fantastic. The back up nurse who became my full time night nurse was amazing and so much nicer than the one I had originally.
