DS wasn't a big fan of prunes so I made plum puree and he loved it. The flavor wasn't quite as intense and it wasn't as thick and goopy.

I made all of DDs purées with the exception of prunes. It just seemed so much more labor intensive than any other steamed fruit of veggie! I bought the premade baby food prune purée. It did the trick :)

@rattles: @autumnlove: Thanks-- I'll look for them next time I go to Target! I make everything, so far (we do BLW so don't do many purees anyway) but it's nice to have something to just keep in the diaper bag.

@Foodnerd81: I used Plum Organics prunes pouches with DD. I made all the rest of her food, but I had trouble getting the texture right on prunes.

@banana: I haven't seen prune pouches (but I only looked twice). Where and what brand did you find them?

I'm actually really annoyed- I just bought the fresh dried prunes (like sold in the produce dept instead of the dried fruit section) thinking maybe they were better, and when I went to purée them I found there must have been a pit still in there. Not sure what to do with this batch- can I blend it so the pit is disintegrated? Strain it? Toss it? I'll buy the packaged from now on.

Same as @foodnerd81. I buy dried prunes and boil them just for a few minutes and then blend them with some pear pieces to make it smoother. Or I'll blend it with yogurt/milk for a smoothie. I also have a bunch of those baby prune pouches (the ones that are just prunes). Those are good for when we're out and about.

I do-- C has constipation issues. I bought regular Sunsweet prunes (near the raisins) and poured boiling water over them and let them sit for a few minutes, then pureed them with a stick blender. I freeze them in a silicone ice cube tray with what is roughly the equivalent of 2 prunes per cube. Then I just pop one cube out and microwave with a touch more water for 20 seconds and stir.

I'm out so I think I'm going to get organic ones next time. I have to give a serving at every meal or she strains when she poops!

I want to make a batch since my LO 2 has poop issues!

Do you rehydrate dried prunes before you puree them in a food processor/blender, etc? Or did you make fresh plum puree?

Do you buy regular bagged prunes from the grocery store or something else?
