I would say if you drive a lot, you won't need a double.

My LOs are 3 years apart and we live in a city with no car. We bought a wheelie board for the stroller for our toddler to ride on. So far it has worked well, but DS has already said "we should buy a double stroller" when he's tired of walking or riding the wheelie board. If my LOs were 2 years apart, I would have probably bought a double.

We got one secondhand -- you might check in to that. LOs are 28 months apart. We used it maybe once a day for a walk around the neighborhood before the weather got cold, but haven't used it lately. Nice to have, definitely not a necessity unless you do a ton of walking, I think.

@SAHM0811: thank you for going into detail, so so helpful! I'm thinking we may be able to do without it bc we live in the suburbs and have to drive everywhere. Plus with baby wearing I think that will make it easier!

I would say use your Ergo first and see how it goes. Some families get away without one, especially if you just drive most places. Also, at around 2-3 yo, young toddlers often just want to walk everywhere anyway, so you could still switch off the single stroller between the two.

If you plan to use a stroller for day-long trips quite often, if you live in a walking city and run errands a lot with two kids, or if you want to go jogging with two kids in tow... I would say to definitely get a double. Otherwise, you might be able to do without!

I was able to swing it without a double for about 4 months with two LOs about 3 years apart, but then got one since we lived in a walking city (had no car, walked or took the subway everywhere), winter hit, and I needed them both in a rain/snow protected stroller when we ran errands, went to preschool, the grocery, etc... We then moved to a suburb-ish area though and did well without a double for a few months again, but then I decided I wanted to go jogging with the two and so I got another one ;) But if not for that, I think I could do without!

P will 25 months old when baby sibling is born and I am wondering if I will need a double stroller? I would def buy it used if I could since we are on a strict budget. I have an ergo I can use to wear #2 also.

If you have 2 lo did you invest in a double stroller? what are the age difference between your two lo's?
