No, my almost 3.5 year old has been day trained for a year and still soaks a pull up at night. He doesn't wear one at nap anymore though. I'm not rushing it because it doesn't affect anyone outside our house (like preschool, for example).

I'm a believer of the camp that you cant night train. We potty trained last spring using a loose three day method at 27 months, ds "night trained" himself as in woke up dry after nap and sleep consistently for wks at 30 months when we used up the last dipe, put on a mattress protector sheet underneath his sheets and called it done. Over the summer he started to wet his bed overnight a handful of times or get up and need us to take him in the motn. Now he's just past 3yo and since his bday he has been holding all night or going by himself in the early am and then going back to bed. March will be one year since we potty trained.

Nope. She's 3 and completely soaks her nighttime diaper. I'm in no rush and our Ped wasn't concerned at all.

no our 3yo isn't night trained. her ped says their bodies will eventually produce an anti-diuretic hormone which will help them with night training as it'll make their bodies produce less urine at night. she says it'll happen sometime before they turn 6. so i'm not worried and will not think abuot night training until she does it naturally or will think about it when she's older

We did OCPT. The author "believes" in night training - as in, it is something that you can do if you want as opposed to the idea that you can't/shouldn't do it - but she also says that you don't have to. Most kids will naturally start to hold it at night.

LO was pretty young when we potty trained - 22 months - so we have stuck with pull-ups for naptime and bedtime. She wakes up from her naps dry fairly often and I think when we switch her to a big girl bed, she might be able to get up in the night and go potty on her own, but we are not going to push it.

@knittylady: we did the three-day method when she was 2.5 but she wasn't ready to stay dry overnight for another 2 years...and I am glad we waited until she was ready and didn't try to force it sooner. Once she was ready the transition was very smooth.

My 3yo is still in a crib; potty training (well poop training) was a nightmare and sleep is pretty fantastic, so we didn't want to ruin a good thing. He's still in pull ups at night and for nap...

Ha, I voted, but thought you were talking about sleep training. I get it now. No, we just nap trained, and I figure he will eventually night train himself. I remember my niece was wearing night time diapers when she was like five and she's a perfectly happy healthy 10 year old today, so I'm not really worried.

She night trained herself! It was amazing. We weren't even trying to get her to do it but she started waking up at night to pee and took her diaper off to do it. This was before she was even day trained. So we started letting her sleep commando and she rarely wets the bed. When she does, it's because she was severely tired and couldn't wake herself up to use the travel potty in her room.

@kiddosc: My husband would go into his room, carry him, and put him on the potty half awake. Then right back to bed. His nighttime potty has improved with change to big boy bed because he goes down the hall, pees, and usually comes back to bed.

I don't know how you night train. I guess I could set an alarm for every two hours and get him up to go? As of now, he's in nighttime pull-ups, but he wakes up soaked. He's in underwear for nap, but he just doesn't wake-up at night.

Night training means that you want your child to wake up during the night to use the bathroom, not hold their urine and stay dry all night. There's nothing to train on this, though, it's a matter of the child being physically ready.

So, we did day training and then dealt with overnight separately.

We didn't night train at 2 years old when we potty trained. He had night diapers for about 6 months. Then when his little brother arrived, he had it with night diapers and went to undies/nighttime potty training. We've had very few accidents with undies/nighttime potty breaks. Only recently, we've cut nighttime potty breaks for the most part. He now tells us that he needs to pee in the morning and runs to the potty at 3.5 years old.

I'm reading the 3day method pdf and it's very pro night and nap training at the same time. Sleep is already complicated at our house and I really don't want to throw that into the mix.

Did you nap and night train at the same time? boy or girl?

And because I'm obsessed with polls...
