I saw how bad my nice and nephew were. I was naive and judgemental. </p> <p>I don't know when it happened but I think when I became more understanding of how hard it is to parent that I liked/ understood kids. It was probably about the time that I realized I wanted kids of my own that I liked kids. I have absolutely no feelings for kids that I'm not related to somehow. If we do share blood/ties (esp. my siblings' kids), I tend to be very attached.</p> <p>Just being pregnant for a few months, I've noticed myself feeling more positive about strangers' kids. I still don't feel the need to coo or become a teacher or anything, but I'm definitely more open/smiley with them. When I was younger and babysat, I liked some of them, when I really developed a bond/friendship with them. So I do believe that if I got to know some kids I would think they are great. My nieces are awesome for example. Now that I have a LO, I'm still not wild about other people's kids, but I'm more tolerant of certain things because I know how challenging it can be. For example, a crying baby in a restaurant? I used to hate those people! I didn't have much family, so no younger cousins, nieces, nephews, etc. which probably makes a big difference whether or not you have lots of opportunities to bond with young children.</p> <p>but now that i have charlie and olive, i can't say that i LOVE kids... but i definitely like them much, much more and think they're much cuter. like if i see a 13 month old mastering walking, it reminds me of when charlie was that age. i can better appreciate the cuteness in other kids having been through those stages with my own.</p> <p>Are you a kid liking convert now that you have your own child, or did you always love children? </p>
