@MrsADS: my 17 month old is a booby monster too, I have no idea how we are going to wean. She is down to a quick morning feed and then one at nap time, and one through the night. she randomly asks for it during the day and I try to distract her with food/water and that sometimes works. I thought she would have been done by now, but she relied on me a lot while her first molars cut through. I'm hoping she starts to wean before she's 2, its a lot of work wrangling an acrobatic toddler while she feeds. my boobs are still really big, I want them to be smaller, and hopefully lose a few kilos once she's weaned (please don't let me put weight on!!)

@mrsbubbletea: It's so hard to know what will work! For us, my rough plan was to start by cutting out the sessions she was least attached to, and slowly work our way up to cutting out the times she had the most interest in nursing. It was also path of least resistance for me. The first sessions I cut out were also the easiest times of day for me to distract her. And I put off night weaning as long as I could, because i was tired and didn't want to mess with my sleep.

My appetite is about the same :( not gaining weight (yet) but definitely not dropping any lbs any time soon..... Also my boobs which were small to begin with somehow are even smaller now. Sad!

Good news is that I feel more "normal" as far as my hormones go. Better sex drive and I kind of have baby fever again HAHA

I weaned at 11 months. I had some trouble with almost getting clogs but not too bad. I stopped eating everything in sight, my boobs shrunk (yay! They were way too big) and I lost that last few pounds. I also got my period back exactly a month after weaning!
Emotionally I felt free. I felt like I was back to myself again.
I didn't love or hate breastfeeding so I was not emotionally attached.

@LindsayLou: I wonder if I am going about it wrong. At this point he nurses down for nap (plus half way through to go back to sleep), bedtime (but not to sleep), and then early morning on and off until we get up. And recently he's started asking more random times during the day (maybe cause I have been more lazy on the couch in my first trimester?) I was starting with night weaning, and we never nurse before 530am. But then he nurses pretty much from 530-830 when we get up 😬! Maybe I should focus on ending day time nursing sessions and bedtime first. I know he can do bedtime without since I work 3 evenings per week. Ugh it's so tough.

Sorry to thread jack!

@mrsbubbletea:
@MrsADS:
My daughter dropped the very last session on her own, I think because my milk changed taste due to pregnancy. But I very gradually weaned her over the course of 6 months. The first two months were spent trying to get her to give up daytime sessions other than nap time. 2 months in, we were down to nap time, bedtime, overnight, and wake up. Then I dropped nap time, with the help of her spending a weekend away from me with my parents. Naps were rough for about 2 weeks, but it was worth it. Then another month later, we dropped the wake up nursing (that one wasn't bad, we just did breakfast immeadiately). Then a month later, over the course of a week, we dropped overnight nursing. Definitely the worst. We bedshare most nights, so she cuddled with dadddy instead and we offered a sippy of water every time she cried. A month or so later, she decided one night that she was done with the bedtime nursing.

@MrsADS: my LO was down to feeding just before bedtime and for random (maybe 1-2 a week) MOTN wake ups.... so I think it was easy to cut it cold turkey. It would have been much harder when she was nursing multiple times a day!!

I replaced the nursing session with just cuddling her in the glider before bed.

My boobs went from a DD to a B pretty quickly and now I wish I would have pumped for another year, haha.
I was an exclusive pumper but I still felt guilt and some sadness over weaning but otherwise emotionally I was fine.

I'd love to know how you all weaned (toddlers). My 19 month old is BOOBIE CRAZY. It would have been easier a few months ago to wean him. Now I think he would be hysterical. I'm not in any rush but I don't really want to nurse him for another year +.

Well I got pregnant immediately after dd1 weaning, so that was a big change :silly:

I'm wondering how it will be this time. We had a lovely end last time and she self weaned at a time when we were both ready. But this is my last baby so I'm sure I'll be even. Ore emotional. But also ready to actually have my body back. I'm expecting the saggy boobs but if my hair falls out I may lose my mind!!

I'm going through this right now. DD was down to just a bedtime feed after she turned 1. I nursed her for the last time Wednesday night and am feeling really emotional about it. I thought we would make it longer and I'm sad our special time is over.

No physical changes yet but maybe that will come later.

DS weaned completely at 27 months, and I felt my hormones go wacko. I had weaning anxiety which was probably my untreated PPA worsening. I lost weight, but because I was too anxious to eat. From what I hear, a little anxiety or hormonal reaction is normal, and I had a rare severe reaction.

My 19 month old just weaned herself a few weeks ago. I'm also 20 weeks pregnant, so it's hard to say what's caused by weaning, but I have noticed my hair falling out quite a bit.

2 weeks of hard boobs. I cold turkied when I was at one morning and one night feed when I got pregnant at 13 months. When my boobs finally went back to not being hard they were sad, saggy, deflated sacks. That's the only difference I noticed! But because it was due to pregnancy that I weaned it may be different the next time. I had started pp hair loss at 9/10 months pp and it got worse for a few months after I was done breastfeeding.
