Around here there was a period where a lot of girls were doing it, but then it kind of tapered off. I think part of the issue is that showers are so much bigger these days than they used to be. It seems like it used to be close friends and family but you hear more and more now about showers with 100+ people. My mom was very upset when we went to a relative's bridal shower three months before mine and had to wrap our gifts in clear cellophane. She believes the point of a shower is to open the gifts in front of everyone. I could go either way.</p> <p>@JerricaBenton: My mom too! I like the idea of not doing it, but I just can't imagine how to go about saying you're not opening them.
