Used low VOC paint and kept the window open. I also stained my barn doors at the beginning of my pregnancy, but did so outdoors. I was over 20w. DH wouldn't let me participate when the cheap/stinky paint was involved, but I participated when we used Benjamin Moore Natura or Aura paint--and without a respirator or open windows! </p> <p>I'm still amazed my paranoid husband let me get away with it, haha. But the paint was great, you couldn't even tell the place had been painted because of the lack of fumes. I asked the doctor and she said it was fine and just to leave the windows open and try to minimize/clean up paint drips on my skin right away. I used zero VOC paint to paint the nursery.....but then kind of got too comfortable and started spray painting (outside), and then painted our dining room with regular paint, but we had all the doors open and I wore a mask. She had a miscarriage before I was born that happened the weekend after she painted a bedroom and both she and my dad are convinced that it was the paint fumes that did it. I don’t think that’s the case but I let her do it so she could have peace of mind. I did paint a dresser with a face mask on while outside last week! My husband, though, has decided it's safest to outlaw me from painting while pregnant. It killed me last weekend to let my MIL and SIL paint the nursery for me. It still needs 1 more coat, and I'm itching to do it. We are using no VOC paint, and I have a respirator to wear and can open tons of windows with fans . . . Think it's safe? Did you paint while pregnant or ask your doctor about painting while pregnant? </p>
