We got to our first destination and my mom realized my 6 mo old sister and her car seat weren't in the car. Turns out she had been sound asleep in her crib at home and my other sister and I, mom and dad all thought someone else grabbed her. She was still at home asleep when we got back, but I think we were all scarred from leaving the baby home alone!</p> <p>Our family was way too hectic for a little while. My parents got in trouble with the MPs (military police) on base at the grocery store because I had wondered off, and was talking their heads off and was 3yrs old and all alone! Apparently, I thought that was super-cool, so I went to go check it out (and we live on a highway in the country). A very big man found me and brought me home. My mom never knew I was gone, but I was terrified of that man. They both got home early and thought I was upstairs playing. Then, after my mom had been home for a while, she started calling for me and then I didn't come. It escalated with them outside calling for me and finally my mom said to my dad, "Okay, let's retrace our steps. After you picked her up, what did you guys do?" My dad said, "I never picked her up." My mom said, "Well, I didn't." Needless to say we were loving it and bought all the touristy garb. Unforunately my mom had the same build and hair color (and touristy shirt!) as another woman that I swear a followed for a half-mile before I realized she was not my mother. </p> <p>Eight year old me was beyond annoyed that I had to take time out of my busy ride schedule to find a park security guard to call my parents to the missing child area. In the days that followed at Disneyland, we stopped wearing our Disney shirts. We were doing the Disney breakfast with the characters. Afterwards, we were walking around and Goofy came by. I was SO scared and cried and cried. Finally, I was reunited with my mom thanks to the help of some mall workers but I remember the second I saw my mom in the distance, I cried even harder. I remember feeling so mad at my mom for losing me. I didn't feel relief. My mom said to me, "Did you think I would lose you on purpose?" and in my tiny mind I really thought it could have been prevented.
