When I was in Junior High and High School, I'd ask them for help and usually figured it out as I was explaining what my problem was. My dad covered math up until I started pre-calc, and my mom helped with everything else. She was especially awesome about helping me study for tests. I lucked out because my mom is a high school teacher, and runs learning centers where she helps students study and stay on top of their work.
