We did Oh Crap Potty Training when LO was 22 months. I felt like she was close to ready from about 19 months. It went really smoothly!

I planned to at 18 months, but we moved across country and she lost interest. She started to be interested again, then we moved again. So it was only this fall at 3.5 that she was trained. We still have peepee accidents at 4, but it's almost always because she doesn't want to stop doing what she's doing, like watching TV or admiring her "fabulous" reflection, lol.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: my introduction was from a Nepali friend; she says everyone does it there. I noticed that my babe was obvious about her need to poop, so I decided to try holding her over the toilet. Then I learned more from reading The Diaper Free Baby (an inaccurate title, it should be the Change Fewer Poopy Diapers Book!). There are also some pages online about EC.

@Iced Tea: Thats awesome! I should teach DS the sign for potty...
@maddyz: Oh goodness to pee on the floor... I'm sure I have lots of that to look forward to!
@Somebunny: Thanks for the clarification, I think I had read up on that awhile ago also, we've had a potty since 12 months and if I notice him grunting I'll ask him if he's going potty, or needs to go, so I definitely think that has helped!

Elimination communication. Its basically watching for your baby's "signals" that they need to go and putting them on the potty at that time.
Honestly, I was not good at reading signals so I just put her on the potty when I changed her diaper and when she woke up in the morning and after naps. I was pretty relaxed about it.

We did EC when LO was a baby and then 3 day potty training at 15 months. It went very well. After that, she had a few pee accidents, but she always pooped in the potty. I will say that she had a bit of a regression at 2.5 when LO2 was born. But overall we had a good experience with early potty training.

We did EC so we started really early. My daughter did really well! Had a little regression when she entered preschool at exactly 2 years old. Poop and nighttime was a breeze. Occasional daytime pee accidents were messy and a bit of a hassle (but it was small amounts of pee) before 18 months.

We've been doing EC since two months old, so our daughter has grown up with an awareness of the potty and herself. She's been pooping exclusively on her little potty since she was about 10 months old; she signs potty and I put her on it. Pees used to be mostly on the potty, but lately (at 14 months) she doesn't always want to stop playing to pee, which is fine for now. We don't pressure her; we just wanted to acknowledge her need and help her meet it.

I potty trained a little girl I babysat at 18 months. She was SO READY, but still needed some help (reminders and help with her clothing) she didn't nap and night train until later when she could go on her own and was no long sleeping in the crib.

My LO is 14 months. He will sometimes tell me when he needs to pee (he makes the peeing sound from EC when he was little) and we take his pants off and he pees. Some in the potty and more right after on the floor, we are working on getting more of it in the potty. He can hold it and make himself pee so he has pretty good awareness. Poop is a whole different thing and I keep him in a diaper when I think that might happen. I try to talk to him about pooping every time he poops. My hope is to keep his connection with his body active and have the potty around a lot and when he is ready for more it's there. He pees on the floor a lot....

LO1 was really interested in it at 23 months so we just took his pants off and he basically trained himself.

LO2 sounds similar to yours that he was acting really interested at 18 months and actually asked to poop on the toilet a couple times. It was winter and way too cold for him to be running around with pants and I feel like we really mißed a good opportunity. He will now pee on the toilet but pretty much refuses to poop on it. I just got out the little potty seat so we'll see if that will motivate him at all.

Good luck and go for it!

Mine just turned two and he's been mostly trained since 21 months. Mostly trained meaning:
-undies except naps and sleep and longer car rides just in case
-expresses when he needs to go but needs our help taking off pants an undies
-averages an accident every two weeks (usually if he's tired and crying really hard, or in car, or really excited/distracted)
-squirts a little in his undies if he's distracted/excited sometimes

I just got him familiar with the potty from a young age and just kept putting him on at random times.. I also let him be pant less a lot so I could "read" him and take him to potty easily.. It was a lot of trial and error but I am thankful not to have two in diapers and be over te hardest part of training. I also do not miss cleaning massive poos stuck to his bum. I will attempt nap training and night training when he's able to independently take off his clothes...

We did, started at 22 months. I was determined to not have two in diapers. It was rough at first. He was only a little interested in the potty, but got the concept pretty fast. We just had to keep him interested in keeping his underwear dry. He does fine if he doesn't have anything on. He still has some accidents now (4 months later) but I'm really glad to be done with toddler poops in cloth diapers.

Nope. DD was interested around 18 months so we followed her lead. She told us before going a few times and did it and that was it. She's 26 months and still not trained, but every few weeks gets interested and will do it. I'm due with #2 any day now so never wanted to push anything until after that happened. I think she would respond well if we went for it, I just have no interest right now lol. Maybe at the end of
My maternity leave we will get serious.

We used the book "Oh crap, potty training" and she recommends training between 20-30 months old. She also discusses markers for readiness (which is more important than age)!

We trained before 2.5, but that isn't crazy early (IMO)

I haven't hit that milestone yet, but somehow, my SIL managed to potty train all 4 of her LO's before 2. I plan on asking her oodles of advice the time comes for me! I think she uses a high reward system.

DS is 17-1/2 months... He's gone poo on the potty twice for me (first time noticed him grunting and asked if he wanted to go potty, he ran to the toilet and went; 2nd time randomly asked if he wanted to go, he sat on the potty and went).

He's gone pee on the potty a few times for daycare after naps. She actually has him in training underwear today.

We haven't pushed the issue at all, other than asking if he wants to go before baths or bed time, or if I'm changing his diaper. Not sure I'm ready to full-on train, but if daycare wants to I'm all for that. ;)

Did your LO potty train early? How'd it go?
