We're pretty minimalist when it comes to baby gear, and we borrowed a lot of stuff from siblings and friends, so our registry was pretty much completed after my shower. We added books to our Amazon registry so that there were still items on the registry for out of town friends and family. If I had a normal registry/shower, I would have registered for books as well as some toys and entertainment items. Don't forget though, that you don't just read in books, there are flashcards, letter links, electronic musical books, first learning computers as well. I ended up with a bookcase filled with books! It's beautiful to have all of these colourful books in her room!
