Sorry if this is a stupid question/threadjack, but I have NO experience with babies!

How do you know if your baby doesn’t like a particular brand of bottle? I had never even thought of brand-rejection as a possibility (eek!)…do they just cry and refuse the bottle? Or do they behave in a different way?

Thanks!!

@Mrs. Bee: Exactly!

We had every good intention of using Dr. Browns only to find out that our daughter hated them. The only bottle she would take at all was MAM... It took us a while to figure that out, so we have some of every different kind we could find before we stumbled onto MAM.

I bought myself two gift boxes of playtex drop in sets that I found on sale... I think I wont get anymore to start with and see how well they work with my LO before buying more.

i registered for dr. brown's but ended up returning the box unopened since my son was doing well with the medela bottles included with my pump. i ended up just buying him more medela bottles instead.

I registered for the Dr. Brown's starter kit and a couple of Born Free bottles. I figure we'll start with a small number of bottles from those 2 companies, and then go from there once we establish which bottles our baby prefers to feed from.

I registered for the dr. brown's starter kit and our LO has done well with them so far. They were recommended by friends and baby bargains. They do have several parts to clean which is the only drawback I heard, but so far so good.

i wouldn't buy too many bottles in case your lo doesn't like a particular brand. every baby is different. i bought one of each of a couple brands - playtex drop-ins and born free i think. you can always buy more if your lo likes a particular bottle. if you buy a starter set and they hate the bottle, it's kind of a waste of money.

I registered for 2 starter kits-- Avent and Dr. Brown. Since I plan on EBF, I'll only need a few bottles a day (my friend said about 6). Those were the best reviewed (online and by IRL friends) that I could find.

We registered for Avent bottles, on advice from a friend. We also registered for a bottle warmer/sterilizer and a starter pack that has a cleaning brush and some other stuff in it.

Yup. I got recommendations from a friend. I actually got a bunch of used ones (Avent BPA Free) from a sale. We're registering for more, though. I should say we're registering for them, we don't have a LO yet. :)

Did you register for bottles and just decide that you were using that brand no matter how your LO felt about it? I know that we have a ways to go before we register, but I'm trying to research our options before we go. Otherwise, Hubby will not last. I have asked friends that have recently had kids and breastfed them which bottles they used and both of them (they are sisters) used the same brand. Do we just register for a few starter kits and see what the LO likes or do we go with a brand, cross our fingers, and go from there?
