He didn't really start becoming interested in toys until he was almost 3 months old, so at that point we just picked up a few things. I did however receive a lot of books at my showers. He is the first grandchild on both sides of our family, though, so that may have something to do with it.</p> <p>ETA: just noticed the second question - we didn't register for books or large furniture items either, and only a few very basic clothing items. As a FTM I am clueless! The one thing we decided not to register for, aside from clothes, is toys. We figures, like clothes, people will buy that regardless because it is cute or fun.
