I feel like if people have an amount in mind they'd like to spend, maybe if the items are less expensive, they'll buy more than one. I think post people keep gifts around $30 and maybe $50 for closer family/friends. We bought 75% of the big stuff on our own (crib, mattress, furniture). MIL went in on our stroller with some other family which was totally awesome! So, it could be that they want two fancy towels that add up to 50, so I'll go for it, or they might have registered for the cheapest pack and play. It's not like people are saying, I'm buying X no matter what it costs! </p> <p>So I registered for things that were the item I want, which takes price into account, even if I might not necessarily buy it form myself if I don't get it. So I went with a nice carseat, nicel toys/activity stuff, etc. If you end up putting a lot of expensive stuff on there and no one buys it, you can always change it before you go complete your registry. I know that a lot of things we will end up buying ourselves, but I am still having a hard time deciding if I should register as if others are gifting us, or as if we had to buy it all ourselves. We're on a budget and I'm trying to be very practical. But of course if any of our family/friends want to be generous, I might pick an item that is a little more expensive than I'd pick for myself, or register for something that I wouldn't spend my own money on. Hopefully that makes sense!</p> <p>What did you / will you do? Shoot for the moon? Keep it as practical as you would if you were not to get gifts? Or a mix? Tell me how you decided for different items - for example, did you go practical on one thing but not another? </p>
