As my OB/GYN was delivering the placenta and lifting it up he goes "Do you want to see this?" and before you could answer he was holding the organ in the air! I am so not "crunchy" but like @coastinganon I figured, I spent 9 months making this fantastic organ I might as well use it for all it is worth.</p> <p>A friend of ours has a niece who encapsulates placentas for post-natal consumption. After doing some research on my own and talking with her, I felt there were some potentially awesome benefits. Supposedly, consuming the placenta will help with PPD, stem the bleeding and contract the uterus so you can begin healing quicker, provide more energy, and there was a study in the 50's where it can increase milk supply for breast feeding. Even if there is only a placebo effect from taking the pills, I don't see much harm. One thing I really wanted to do was view the placenta. I figured my body spent nine months making an ORGAN out of nothing...the least I could do was look at it...because seriously, when do you ever get to see one of your organs?</p> <p>We even took a picture of ours (mostly because I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see it!).</p> <p>Did you view your placenta?
