I wanted a high quality mattress that was firm. The fit is important (has to be snug) and it was convenient for us to get it there. If you get a convertible crib than a child could be sleeping on that mattress for 3-4 years. There's really no other feature I can think an infant would need. Obviously, an older children would need a more supportive mattress. </p> <p>Did you do extensive research on crib mattresses or did you just buy one when you got your crib and not worry about it? </p>
