DS was swaddled with a hat on and was super alert with his eyes opened so the picture was really cute. The wife is white and the husband is very dark skinned Haitian. We were so excited to see what color the baby would come out because he could really be anywhere along the spectrum. He came out stark white / pink and stayed that way for probably a few weeks. He got less pink but stayed pretty white. His color very slowly came in over the next few months. While he's not extremely dark, you can absolutely see his father. You can at least have someone take the photos and then decide later whether to share them with anybody. Your doula might be able to take some photos - our doula said that there's really nothing for her to do at the moment the parents meet the baby for the first time, so she loves capturing that in a picture.</p> <p>My LO's vernix rubbed in very quickly and she looked pretty presentable pretty soon. I don't think mine looked wrinkly and discolored. They clean them well and they were c section babies. Heck, DS1 was so big, he basically looked like a 2 month old. Tell mom &amp; dad to go back to the waiting room! (They were watching through the nursery Windows)</p> <p>We've received pics of all our baby besties right away from friends though. I love the tiny, scrunchy faced, not yet washed photos that my friends have with their babes!
