I basically just said on my first day back that if the door is closed, it's because I'm pumping and I'll be done in a few minutes. I usually review documents on the computer while I pump and we have an internal IM system so if they need me urgently, they can message me and I'll see it. I think my boss had already asked for me but I never discussed it with him. I'd do it now so they have some time to prepare. I even did a practice session in the office the week before I went back since I chose to attend a meeting. The room was cold, everyone could hear, and I had to balance everything on my knees as I sat on the toilet. However, a friend of mine had been working on clearing out a storage closet for me, so now I pump there. It's warm, mostly quiet (I'm next to someone's office) and the door locks. </p> <p>Definitely talk to someone at work prior to your first day. I would have a copy of your states Breastfeeding and pumping laws handy in case there is any pushback.
