They had me wear it around for a day then give it to DS to sleep with while he was in NICU. I loved the idea. It was a nice idea intro runout logistically I couldn't figure out how to put it down while holding a sleeping baby and I didn't want to call Dh to do it and risk waking her. </p> <p>I did tuck her lovey into my bra while nursing when we introduced it. DH joked "how come the bunny has to smell like you? What about me?" So I told him to sleep with it too. We put it in LO's crib around a year and it is her favorite thing ever. In the NICU I interned at, they gave moms bandanas and told them to wear them in their bra all day, then bring it back. They would then lay them under the baby's head in their crib/isolette! That way, they would smell like her, which the baby would then recognize. For whatever reason, this idea has stuck with me, so for the last two nights, we've been rotating sleeping with one of baby's blankets in our bed. I plan on washing them before baby comes, but I figure, even if this is an old wives' tale, it can't hurt, right? Plus, I like the idea that the blankets will smell even a little like us before baby uses them. I see it in the same way that I love wearing DH's sweatshirt because it's his, and it somehow reminds me of his scent, even when fresh out of the dryer.</p> <p>Has anyone else heard of this practice? Did you do it? </p>
