We sterilize (quick rinse in boiling water) after every use. It's become a habit and another thing we do every night. I'm a bit of a clean freak and hypochondriac so it's probably overkill.

I would sterilize the bottles and the medela pumping pieces for like 4 months. Looking back I wonder why I did it so long. Next time around, I might do it for the first couple of weeks, but thats about it.

I sterilized my pumping equipment daily when my boys were still in the NICU. Once one came home, I stopped.

I am in love with my sterilizer, I still use it almost daily at 11 months.

We have very hard water and use a lot of chemicals in the dishwasher to keep the limescale away. So, I didn't want to put the baby's stuff in there. I really use my sterilizer more as a holding tank for the stuff that's been washed. I don't like it hanging around in my dish drainer, so I pop it in the sterilizer. It's not so much for the sterilizing but the organization in my case.

If I run them through the dishwasher, then no 'cause the heat from the wash will sterilize them but if I wash them by hand, then I use my microwave sterilizer. I know it's not necessary but it makes me feel better.

we're not there yet, but I remember with my youngest sister that we just washed them daily. I'm sure mom sterilized them before the first use though.

Just before the first use. I'll do it occasionally now, mostly just the nipples, but definitely not frequently

I only did it once with the first use. As I haven't been using them recently, when I do again, I'll just do the nipples.

We only did after the first use too.

That's what the directions said, and my internet research. I wasn't planning on using bottles so I was kind of caught by surprise and quickly googled all my questions.

Our pediatrician told us that putting them in the dishwasher was good enough. We put the bottles and nipples in the dishwasher every night. Once a week I also boiled the nipples. I doubt I needed to do it but it just became a habit.

With Charlie, I sterilized his bottles for the first month. Most lactation consultants will tell you that you don't need to sterilize and a run through the dishwasher is fine.

I wasn't going to sterilize at all with Olive, but since she was born early, I've been sterilizing her bottles.

Did you sterilize your bottles? When did you stop?
