We gave up on swaddling our first because she fought it so much. She would grunt and try to break free until she finally did. Even the nurses couldn’t keep her in a swaddle in the hospital.

Our second was swaddled for a couple of months because she liked it.

We did, for about 4 months, she liked it. We used these velcro swaddles: https://www.amazon.com/SwaddleMe-Original-3-Piece-Swaddle-Chevron/dp/B01155V0ZC/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=swaddleme+organic&qid=1568462932&s=baby-products&sr=1-7

I was never good at swaddling with a blanket, the velcro swaddlers worked so much better for us.

We swaddled with the velcro swaddles, nice and tight. Once she could roll over, we transitioned to the zipadee zip, which still gave her that enclosed feeling but allowed a bit more movement. She stayed in one of those until she outgrew their largest size.

Another vote for the swaddle here! I'm a big believer in it. Nothing makes me roll my eyes more than a parent who complains their baby is a bad sleeper and they don't swaddle them.

We used the halo swaddle sleep sacks until E could roll over at 3.5 months then just the sleep sack. We swaddled for both night and nap until we ditched them cold turkey.

My first two I never swaddled. They didnt like it but this baby loves it. Only way she will sleep if she is not sleeping with me. During the day she naps in her swing.

I only swaddled at night and let them belly sleep during the day. Maybe a sleep sack or the arms up swaddle would work better for your DD? If she doesn't wake from her startling I would just let her sleep without anything.

Didn’t with our first, they slept great right from the beginning. Tried halfhearted let ekth the second who had a mega starter reflex in legs and arms and it was awful. Should have tried harder. Did with baby 3 for two weeks,
Magical, and am now using a swaddle up sack which is great too. It isn’t amazing for night, but helps a lot I think. I had 2-3 weeks of 3 hour day naps with it. Baby is 5 weeks old now.

We swaddled, but my LO responded pretty well to it, she was a December baby, so the extra warmth helped throughout the winter. If she had been a summer baby, or slept just as well without it, I would not have felt any need to pursue it. One less habit to break later!

I didn't swaddle my first, he slept just as well without it, so it didn't seem worth it. He was a pretty good sleeper and didn't seem to have much of a moro reflex. We used the halo swaddle sack with arms out. I swaddled my second and third until after they lost their moro reflex (3 months and 4 months).

We never really swaddled either of our kids. The second we bedshared from really early so we would have stopped regardless but he didn't seem to like it

Mine was never swaddled. He just hated it from Day 1. Never an issue. However, he was in the RnP for the first 6 weeks or so so that probably helped with the startle reflex. But once we transitioned to the crib he was fine too.

We swaddled til they rolled on their tummy which was like 6 months. I'm a firm believer in it! One night I put them in arms free sleep sack and he still had the Moro reflex and it freaked him out.
Check out taking Cara babies for tips on swaddling!

I def swaddled! With my 1st, I used "traditional" swaddles like swaddle blanket or the velcro kinds, then went onto using the merlin suit, used that probably for way too long and then just went cold turkey. With my 2nd, I had the woombie that I looooved and will be using it again with next baby! Can't break out of it! Then transitioned to the Love to Dream arms up swaddle, then onto zippity zip (hand me down), and that worked super well for her.

My LO hates to be swaddled. I have used alternatives and it will work for about half of the night. I find that she still has the startle because she’s only one month old but will sleep without it.

Have any of you just let your baby sleep without it?
