Used it from 20w on last time for insane pregnancy insomnia. Some nights no matter how tired I am (and I'm exhausted and don't nap during the day or anything) I can't sleep. It's hormones. My NP said Benadryl would be ok in the first trimester - luckily (I think?!) I've been so tired by bedtime that I don't think I'll need to try it for a while. For weeks 6 and 7, I took the SleepGels by accident (which have the same ingredient as benadryl) then switched to SleepTabs at 8 weeks. But I'd also try going natural if at all possible. Try some warm milk, relaxing meditation music, have your SO give you a back rub. I have a terrible time sleeping so I feel your pain. I don't drink herbal teas either because of all the horror stories you hear about how they can effect the baby or contractions.
