I'm continuing to work out, run, and do 5ks, but if my body doesn't respond well I'm going to stop. All my friends have sworn by prenatal yoga so I'm going to find a class around me. I did find a couples prenatal yoga workshop that helps with positions and breathing. It also works with the partner to learn different massage techniques for labor.

I have never done hot yoga but I took a 3 week prenatal series and a big focus was on how to adjust normal practice for pregnancy. It was helpful to know how to change some poses to make them now comfortable and which to avoid. Can you see if you can find something similar?

Yoga was great! (Didn't take hot yoga while pregnant though, it made me uncomfortable & dizzy).
Around 30 weeks I started feeling 'off' and swelling, no more classes after that, just light walks until I was hospitalized with pre-e at 37 weeks, then nothing at all. Boo.
I think you'll know/your body will tell you your limits.

I'm a huge fan of barre, though I have never done it while pregnant. I would think you would be okay since it's so low-impact, though. Some of the core work would likely need to be modified. We're TTC starting next month, though, and I hope to keep on doing it while pregnant. I didn't exercise much at all with my first, and I really hope things are different next time around.

I did bikram yoga and spinning up til the end of my 2nd trimester. They have modified hot yoga poses for you to do so you're not on your back or compressing the baby in any weird way (and I researched it to make sure it was safe)... and I think spinning is a great pregnancy exercise because it's pretty low impact. I just had to raise my handlebars a bit higher than usual so I wasn't hunched over and pressing on my belly too much. I stopped everything when I hit my third trimester just because I was so uncomfortable and tired all the time.

My doctor's office encouraged me to continue to exercise like I did before as long as I take it slow and see how my body reacts.

I love, love, love practicing hot yoga but was told to stay away from the super-hot classes. That I can try a lower-temp (80 - 90 degrees) class if I am hydrated, take it slow, and leave the room if I get dizzy/nauseous.

I've never taken barre but she mentioned that some other patients take it. I got cleared for spinning as long as I don't get too out of breath, so I'll have to modify what the instructor is doing. I haven't done pilates but have seen some posts on prenatal pilates and thought that might be good.

I am so not good about doing cardio/exercise on my own and I love classes. Yoga also helps me with stress/anxiety, and I know I can look up specific prenatal-only classes but am interested in others' experiences with classes they took pre-pregnancy and continued through pregnancy.

Of course if I do any of these things, I'll check with the instructor first and see if they prefer I do any modifications (and make sure they're comfortable with me being in the class in the first place.) Any other thoughts?
