I chose no tear bc each time tore so slightly that no stitches were needed. The first birth I told the nurse I was scared of tearing and so she applied counter pressure with warm compresses and second time the birth was super fast but I took my time pushing her out.

Yes with DD1, not sure what degree tear, but it took her a little bit to stitch me up. Recovery took a little while, and I was using a ton of that Dermoplast spray to numb everything!

@SugarplumsMom: that's exactly what they told me! I was kind of frustrated no one would ever tell me how many stitches/how big it was.

No tears for number one. Recovery was really quite easy, and I was grateful! We will see with number two. I'm using a different midwife this time (we moved), but preventing tearing is a big priority for me!

I tore enough that I needed stitches but it wasn't very bad. I wasn't in too much pain down there after childbirth. Nothing that the meds they gave me couldn't take care of.

Yes, a second degree tear. I pushed for 4 hours and had a vacuum assist, so it could have been worse. I had complications at the stitch site that went on for months. Even now, the scar tissue means sex has to start off very slow and gentle!

Yes with L, but just 1-2 stitches. Didn't bother me at all other than itching. R wasn't a normal delivery but no tearing thankfully. Both were around 33 weeks so they were small. And they told me to slow down pushing with L so I might have avoided even that if I'd been able to.

Nothing that required stitches, fortunately, but 5-6 places that almost did and one spot on my labia that got scraped open like a skinned knee from LO's knuckles. I wonder if recovery would have been better or worse with one larger tear over lots of small ones.
