Originally, we had planned on 2-3 of marriage before kids but after our one year anniversary, we both really wanted to start our family. We'd achieved our financial goals much more quickly than we thought we'd be able to and the timing felt right. When we announced, everyone asked if LO was a mistake. And that's how it was phrased, as "a mistake". That really gutted me because I felt like no one thought we were ready but looking back, I think it was just really shocking to everyone since we'd put them off so strongly right after we'd first gotten married. (let's be honest, who really wants to be asked twenty times at every family function about whether or not they're using protection with their spouse?) I feel like I need to have a few people I can vent to, and the ones I've told aren't the type to put pressure on me but rather to be supportive and listen when I bring it up. I told him we would have to go back in time for that to be possible since we were already trying! When we realized we had infertility issues, I told a couple close friends because I needed an outlet for stress. We finally told our families once we decided to proceed with IVF. Mainly because I didn't want to go under anesthesia without our parents knowing in case something happened during the procedure.
