I definitely felt nauseous more than once. It was no fun, but it was less awful than I thought it might be beforehand. It's just something that happens; you note it and move on. The nurses will tell you it's a good sign of progress, so that's the silver lining, I suppose? Before the epi I was having contractions with no breaks. I tried a narcotic to take the edge off until the anesthesiologist could get there and it made me sick. They told me I couldn't have water and could only have ice chips (which were nice, but not what I wanted). After awhile the OB finally told the nurses not to let my have any more water because it was just making it worse! So they upped my IV instead. I still passed out after delivery though; I think it was due to many factors but I'm sure the dehydration played a role.</p> <p>ETA: my mom said to also avoid any rich, savory dinner. She had a steak/potatoes dinner just a couple hours before having my sister and regretted it! lol!
