LO went through a couple times of being gassy, the little stinker figured out that nursing helped her fart. Bicycling her legs worked for a bit until she stopped being compliant with it. She never had bad gas though and it always went by without a problem and I never did an elimination diet.

newborns are gassy little gas bags! it gets better.

i had to eliminate dairy due to an intolerance in LO and I wouldn't do it if you don't have to - it is a PITA in the beginning!

Our LO has what seems to be gas discomfort but it's only in the evening. I guess if it was all day I'd test out eliminating things but I figure if it's only at night it probably isn't something I'm eating and her pedi agreed. I'm glad because I eat a lot of dairy and would have a seriously tough time eliminating it.

LO is 3 1/2 months and has been super gassy since birth. It has gotten better over the past few weeks and I haven't changed anything so I think it just takes time. We alternate between gas drops and gripe water when we see that he is struggling. I did not cut dairy out of my diet.

When LO was a newborn he had gas so I elminated all dairy and used gripe water, it helped a lot. He outgrew it on his own.

I did and felt it made a huuuge difference. Dd was always bring her legs up to her tummy during nursing and other times too bc of gas and we had to fart her by pressing her knees to her tummy aaall the time to get the excess gas out for her bc she had so much. Also she was going poo almost every feed and I could see a lot of white milk curdles in her poop. I tried going off dairy after everyone said it wouldnt make a difference but it really helped. She stopped doubling over from gas and farts soooo much less. She poops on average only once a day and its slightly darker and none of that white milke curdles in her poop. She just seemed much more comfy. I didnt do a strict elimination diet either so I had tiny amounts of dairy but never plain milk and only tiny amounts of cooked cheese. I would say go for it give it a shot for a few days you have nothing to lose.

I didn't eliminate dairy - instead, I just gave her some gripe water in her last bottle and that seemed to clear everything up. Your pedi is right - it does get better as they get older.

For us its mostly been just time - as he's gotten older it's gotten better. We tried gas drops, elimination diet, probiotics, etc. I've read lots that 6 months is when their digestive system matures a lot. LO is 16w and way way less gassy than a month ago.We do lots of tummy massage and bicycle legs if it seems bad.

I eliminated dairy for awhile there. I'm still not sure if it helped or not. Only in the past month or two, I've gone fully back to dairy. My LO is 7 months old today. He's much better at passing gas then when he was first born and colicky. It's something that they just learn to outgrow and can fart more easily on their own.

So, I did try to eliminate dairy from my diet when I was breastfeeding, and it helped a little bit! My LO got gas from EVERYTHING though. I couldn't eat tomatoes without giving him gas!

I do have to say that he's grown out of it a bit. Now that he can easily pass gas, he's much better off. He's going to be 6 months next week, so it definitely took a little while, but he got there!

a few mornings this week, and in the past, my 8 week old LO has woken up in the mornings in obvious discomfort, straining to pass gas. he also sometimes wakes up from naps with what seems to be gas discomfort. he is exclusively breastfed (nursing and bottle). i'm wondering if eliminating dairy from my diet is worth trying.

the pediatrician didn't seem too concerned and said it would probably get better as LO got older, although suggested that i could eliminate dairy, but didn't seem confident that it would work. (she also suggested gas drops and gripe water, which we are already using)

LO's poops are healthy and nothing unusual.

did your young LO have gas issues? did he/she outgrow them on their own?

if you tried eliminating dairy from your diet, did it work?
