@Kemma: My doc would have been more than happy to refer me if I'd have wanted it, I just feel deep down like a version is not the right treatment for me and baby, and seeing how anxious I was, she agreed. She also said the doctors wouldn't be very aggresive with it if I was anxious, which would again mean there was no point doing it as chances of it working would be even less.

@SweetMamaM: Fingers crossed for your first 28 day cycle! I used acupuncture to get my periods back and it worked, that's how I got pregnant, Good luck!

I had moxa at my last acupuncture session - for fertility not breech - and I really liked the sensation. If all signs are accurate, I may be heading for my first normal 28 day cycle. I have no idea how it works, but if it does, why not?

@travelgirl1: Fair enough!

I consulted / spoke with three different OB's at my local hospital, one wasn't happy to do the procedure, the other two were keen as mustard!

Hopefully the moxa works for you and Baby gets itself heading in the right direction!

Thanks ladies! @MrsCB: @Sammyfab: We tried it for the first time last night and it stank!!! Our whole apartment smells like we've been dealing dope for the last ten years : )

@Kemma: My doc said that because ECV is only 50% successful for first time mums, coupled with my anxiety about it triggering early labour or affecting baby's heartbeat and then them having to do an emergency c section, that she didn't recommend it for me. She said if it had been a higher success rate then she would have though.

One of the girls in my antenatal class did the moxa sticks for ten days in a row and Baby still didn't turn!

My midwife (who's really pro-natural birth) doesn't put a lot of faith in them even though they supposedly have a 75% success rate because stats show that "most" babies turn naturally anyway, with or without the moxa sticks!

Did your Doc say why he /she didn't recommen the ECV for you?

We tried them for about 10 seconds and I couldn't handle the heat or the smell! We couldn't try it outside because it was winter.

I had moxa for something else and I did not like it at all. I felt like I was constantly getting burned.

I couldn't find anyone within 2 hours that performed it, but I did try acupuncture. My acupuncturist said at 37 weeks, it's pretty difficult for a baby to turn, and that he wished his studio allowed for moxi. But while we could get the baby to move like crazy for the day, we never got him to turn. My midwife suggested lots of time in the pool and positive thinking. My LO said, no thanks, though.

I'm almost 37 weeks and my doctor said that she didn't recommend an ECV for me, which I'm happy about because I don't like the risks involved. Instead I'm trying moxa sticks to try and get her to turn. Apparently the success rates are fabulous, and it's non invasive to me and the baby. If it doesn't work then c'est la vie, but at least I tried.

I just wondered though, has anyone else tried it? Did it work?
