We used a pouch sling when LO was small, and then a ring sling until she was what….almost 2 years old, when I got and switched over to using a toddler tula.

Loved the ring sling: so easy to get on/off, can do so many different holds with one and it is small and fits better into a bag or purse than many of the SSCs for when you are not using it, but are out and about.

I hated it. The uneven weight distribution killed my back. I'm hoping when she's big enough for a hip carry it'll get some use. I vastly prefer my stretchy wrap. I just leave it on and take her in and out as needed.

Yes! I made one when DD was about 18 months old and I loved the convenience of it. However, she was older and I used it for a hip carry. I've never used it with a newborn or young infant, so I'm not sure how I would like it in that scenario. I guess I will find out in 4 months when LO2 is due!

Do you all have one you would recommend?

I am looking to buy one as a gift for my mother! She is the primary care provider for our son and is about to be for my new nephew! I thought she could use a sling to hold new baby while chasing around my toddler!

So I had someone come from my learning library and they suggested getting a ring sling for our upcoming holiday travel. I tried one of her ring slings. It was hard to adjust but I think because the fabric didn't have stripes, it was hard for me to tighten the right spot.

I really want a ring sling for the next baby but haven't committed. We are borrowing a moby (which I used and loved with C) and a silly wrap, plus I have a beco for once she is a little bigger. But a RS seems so much easier to use quickly instead of fussing with a wrap. I love the beco for bigger babies though.

@bluestriped bee: That's what we bought (haven't tried it yet - two weeks!). We went to a class on BW and the instructor said it was the most versatile and easiest so that's what we got!

I used it a lot once my son got older and more stable (didn't buy it until he was 7 or 8 months) - it was great to be able to keep him on my hip and have my hands free. Actually I still use it sometimes if he's being clingy and I need to make dinner. I'm looking forward to using it with the second one at a younger age.

I didn't get mine until DD1 was a toddler and used a k'tan when she was a newborn, but when DD2 was tiny, I found myself consistently choosing the ring sling over the k'tan. So easy, and I loved how high and cozy I could get her. I do prefer the Beco for longer outings with bigger babies, but for newborns and shorter wears, the ring sling is awesome!

I made one when LO was 7 weeks (super easy to make). I love it, wish I'd made one earlier, will use it from birth next time, want to make more of them now, and prefer it for a lot of things. Quick, easy, and comfortable.

I haven't carried my own baby in one, but have carried others and they are really easy to use and babies typically enjoy them! I used it for the baby to lie down in and also for them to sit up in with a toy or a snack.

I would like one, but am also eyeing up a Tula. So maybe I can put it on a gift list for Christmas.

with LO #1, we mostly did ergo. we tried k'tan but he didn't really like it, and i couldn't get the hang of a woven wrap (i rented one to try).

with LO #2 being born in winter, i did research and though that linen ring slings would be good, so i got one. i really like it! now that LO 2 is 16 lbs though, it's better for quick trips. it's really great for daycare drop-off and pick-up. plus i feel like i look cool (i don't, but don't burst my bubble for me). for long trips i'm doing the ergo.
