I know so many people have trouble transitioning from the RNP to a flat surface. If your LO hates it you can always try the RNP, but if he doesn't then you'll save yourself a lot of time not having to worry about the transition. We only used it for three weeks though before I transitioned her to her crib in her own room. I don't think Id do it again. He has a stiff neck and flat spot that I don't think it caused but I know it didn't help.
