It has a little saddle to keep them from slipping under and we've used it indoors and outdoors. It made DH feel better that the baby wasn't sitting directly on the sink where food and whatnot has been.<br /> We tried to use the plastic tub that has a mesh sling for infants. But it didn't work for us. The mesh sling was stretched so tight across that it had little give. So the baby didn't lounge down into the water instead he stayed above it and we felt like he would just roll right off.<br /> When he got to the sitting up phase we went back to the plastic tub without the sling but it was slippery and didn't make it easy for him to lounge back in.<br /> We finally but the munchkin duck and really liked it. We used that for about 6 months until he was a little stronger and more active. I hate using the big tub because it wastes so much water, but I can't find a reasonably-priced tub big enough for a toddler so I'm not sure what we're going to do. I've heard of people using plastic storage bins as bathtubs but haven't tried it myself. I think DD is going to miss the duck when the leak finally gets too bad and we have to retire it.
