We were encouraged to hold off til I got my period, midwife suggested condoms. We went with good ole fashioned pull and pray (been nearly a decade since we used a condom - couldn't imagine doing it now).

No. My doctor told us that she likes to advise patients to wait for emotional reasons, but there is no medical evidence to support needing to wait even one cycle post-mc. So we didn't try during the next couple of months, but we didn't prevent in any way.

We just used condoms. I had to wait 6 weeks before he would okay anything because I delivered.

My ob told me to go for it after the 2 week checkup after my D&C - but i waited until AF returned, because I bled for almost a month straight. That cycle was a bust but i got my bfp the cycle after.

We just abstained. Honestly I didn't want to have sex and I bled for about two months so it's not like we were doing it anyways

@Mrs. Jump Rope: we made an appointment with our RE for early April. We were planning on a FET in May or June before all of this but he thinks it might be better to try on our own for a few cycles.

Ah, sorry I should've been clearer. I meant any form of birth control. I'm never going back on BC pills ever, haha. DH wants to use condoms but he's always been uncomfortable with them.

My doc said to wait 3 cycles because of a higher risk of miscarriage. I don't want to wait but I don't want to rush and have another m/c. So torn. But I'm not going on the pill. Will probably do mix of abstaining during middle of the cycle and pull n pray.

No we just abstained and used condoms. I didn't want to have to come off hormones.

I did after my second. We were told to hold off TTC for a few cycles, and going back on the pill made theost sense.

It also regulated my cycle so we had a set start-date with my RE instead of hoping I'd get a period.

We chose not to wait to start trying again, because in my research it looked like the only reason for that recommendation is for emotional healing. In my case the last thing I needed was to wait and just sit around focusing on how I wasn't pregnant anymore. After my second, the maternal-fetal specialist said to wait just one extra cycle, to give my uterine lining time to recover because I had two in such quick succession (less than 3 months apart). We just went back to the pull-out method for that time (it's worked for us for 8 years). I wouldn't go on the pill or anything, if I were you, because you probably don't want to be making your hormones any more crazy than they already are.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. :(

Although I haven't personally experienced it (and I'm so sorry you're dealing with this), I would follow your doctor's advice. Your body needs to heal, and I'd give it that time.

My OBGYN said to wait one cycle before TTC if we choose to do so. Did you use birth control in the meantime? What did your doctor tell you?
