Our pediatrician advises against orajel, so we never tried it. We used Tylenol at night when LO was really fussy,

No on the Orajel for us. We use the Hylands Teething Tablets, which seem to be working really great so far...LO is 7 months and working on cutting both of his bottom teeth (his 1st tooth popped through yesterday and 2nd tooth should cut through any day now).

No on the orajel... I've used it on myself in the past and I remember how awful it feels to have your mouth so numb, even with just a drop of the stuff. It feels horrible! Orajel is super strong. Besides the FDA warning, i've also read stories of babies swallowing it and choking/suffocating?!

Anyhow, we used Boiron Camilia drops a few times, and Ibuprofen (after 6 months) for real fussy episodes (not much though). My 2nd DD had an amber necklace from Inspired by Finn too... Loved it. We think it helped some! Cold fruit for snacks and refrigerated teethers too...

Wow I called the doctors office one day and they said we could definitely use orajel! It wasn't the dr herself though... Eek.

Our pediatrician also advised against Orajel for the same reasons listed above... so we didn't use it. We used the baltic amber teething necklace and Hyland's.

My DH dismissed the amber teething necklace as hippy voodoo but today when our usually super chill baby was cranky, he was like, "oh no! The necklace!" and ran to get it since it he had taken it off earlier. I was skeptical but it's made a big difference with the drool. LO hasn't actually gotten any teeth yet though so time will tell.

No, our pediatrician isn't a fan of Orajel or Hylands, so if absolutely needed, we would give a dose of Ibuprofen. At 14 months, we haven't needed anything other than some frozen teethers and chewbeads.

We use the amber necklace too, it seems to greatly reduce the drooling and at least some of the discomfort when I talk with his friends' parents to compare. I'm not 100% sure since he is a pretty easygoing guy, but I'm not about to take it off and find out.

Nope, our pedi recommended against using it for the same reason MrsJazz mentioned. We use Hyland's teething tablets and pacifiers from the fridge.

Our pedi did not recommend us to use anything besides the appropriate dose of Tylenol if needed. Luckily DD has seemed content with frozen teethers, chewbeads necklace, her Sophie and other toys she can bite on.

LO isn't teething yet but this post reminded me that I had a major addiction to orajel when I was a kid. I remember sucking the little tube! I'm sure I was older than 2 but I can't believe my parents just gave me the whole tube haha.

Nope, we didn't use Orajel because of the FDA benzocaine warning for children under 2. We used Hylands or Humphreys and frozen teething toys.

Oh, yeah and we also used Tylenol on her inconsolable nights.

We used hylands teething gel, or tylenol when things got really bad. Her top teeth are about to come through, and luckily she's been ok:)

I think Orajel is 3+ months. Orajel makes a more natural version with clove oil. That being said, we did not use them.

Instead we used/use a Baltic amber teething necklace that DS wears as an anklet under a sock. I was skeptical at first, but after I forgot to put it on after a bath one day and he became super fussy which subsided once it was back in place I, DH, his grandparents were sold!! http://hyenacart.com/stores/inspiredbyfinn/

He also loved this teething toy by Munchkin/Orajel that vibrates when they bite down on it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0084PXAJG

I felt DDs gums today and I'm pretty we've got her first bottom tooth poking through.

Did you use orajel if they got fussy? What were your guidelines for using teething aides???
