I have one and I love it! I use it mainly for going on long walks or if I'm gonna be on my feet for a long time, and it lifts the belly up/lightens pelvic pressure. I don't use it a lot but it's helpful at times. Mine is from Motherhood Maternity and I would recommend getting one there b/c you can try it on in store and their pushy employees will show you how to put it on properly.

I've been having really bad RLP (sometimes debilitating) for the past week, so I've been wearing the support band my SIL gave me when she gave me a bunch of her maternity clothes. It's definitely been helpful, especially when I'm working out.

Nope. I figure that if I feel too tired walking around, it's time for a break. As for working out (which I've done, albeit increasingly slowly/lightly), swimming laps has become my absolute favorite. No belly weight in the pool!

I've even wearing a Fit Splint. You can wear it two different ways and you can Velcro it tighter or looser. It's been very helpful when I work out or will be on my feet too much

My first pregnancy I did a lot, mostly when I was walking and it definitely helped the back pain. This time I am carrying so low, that when I tried it on I just felt like baby was getting squeezed and it really didn't help my back. All that to say, it might be worth a try.

@shopaholic: I probably asked my dr a month ago - which is maybe the same point you're at I think? I was feeling the weight of my belly, especially at the gym or after a long day. I do think it was RLP and the baby moving lower into my pelvis and all the fun that goes along with bones spreading :p It did start to feel better after I 'toughed it out' for a bit. Or maybe I'm just used to it now!

I used one on long walks or errand trips it was just a cheap elastic band but it helped. Only drawback was it was uncomfy while seated so I had to take it on and off while driving etc but I was huge and straight out so I don't know how it would be with a normal bump!

@LaineysMom: I think I would forget often too.
@BabyBoecksMom: Ah! I can't even fathom jogging right now!
@mrsjazz: Sometimes I do think all my pains are just round ligament pains. :(
@JerricaBenton: What your doctor says actually makes a lot of sense. DH wears a back brace to ski in and I always tell him he is too reliant on it - I guess this would be the same thing. I'm going to keep trying to tough it out for awhile and maybe as my Dr. next time too. Last time she said (about all the pain around my ribs) just to use a heat pack.

I didn't, but I asked my doctor about them and he didn't recommend them. He said they don't really work to decrease discomfort because it's really pelvic pressure, not belly even though it feels like it. Also, they can weaken your back and ab muscles because you're not using them as much when you wear the belt. At least that's what this doc said!

I used one regularly while I was pregnant to help with my back and hip pain as well as my pelvic & round ligament pain. It was amazing the difference between not using it and using it.

At first, I wore it for support when I was jogging, but I started needing it all the time in the last two months to ease the pelvic pain. It made a huge difference!

I wore one from early on to help with pelvic pain (or vag bone pain as we often call it on these boards, ha ha) but I wouldn't say it helped loads. I do wish I'd have splashed out on a better one though, there was one you could wear pp and put heat/cold packs in and that would have been great!

I used the Medela one from BRU. I didn't use it often. But if I was on my feet, walking around, shopping, etc, I definitely noticed a difference. I just kept it in my purse and put it on as necessary.

I didn't, but was told that it would have helped some of my hip pain. Before you buy one, try one on at a store that sells them to see if it helps you to feel better. Even Burlington Coat Factory has them.

Yes, it helped with the weight of my stomach when I wore it.. but it was kind of uncomfy, so I "forgot" to wear it quite often. When I did wear it my stomach and back hurt much less.

I'm not really that big I suppose, but my stomach my now weighing heavily on me - everything seems so uncomfortable. I feel like a support band would feel a little better, but not sure if I really need it. Pain is more in the stretching and weight of my tummy vs. back.
Did you use a support belt or band? What did it help with?
