@JoJoGirl: Awww, that's sweet your husband is worried! Mine didn't even really think about it! I'm just hoping that if things do start at work, it's subtle/minimal enough that I'm able to drive myself home!

DH is super worried about this too because I will have to drive myself to the hospital or home if I go into labor at work. I keep telling him it doesn't start out that dramatic usually so happy to hear so many stories of water not breaking at work - that would be embarassing.

I worked through the Monday before my induction date. I wanted to work more, but every day I went in my boss would ask why I was there. Plus, I was getting pretty uncomfortable being on my feet as our computers are all at standing height and I didn't want to be the only one using the stool. And none of my uniforms fit.

I worked until just under a month before my due date and was thankful because my son came 3 weeks early! So technically I had 3 days "off" before my son arrived.

Luckily for me my water broke at 2am so I wouldn't have been at work either way :)

Yep. My due date was a Monday. I worked until the Friday before in the office, with a plan to keep working, but from home until I went into labor. I ended up going into labor on my due date, so it all worked out really well.

Sorta, kinda up until early labor. When we thought chances were good I could in the next 24hrs I started my leave.
My co worker and I totally had a emergency plan in place with back up drivers and alternate routes if I went into labor at work!

I worked a full day at work until 5pm. I got a late afternoon snack of McD's before going home. About an hour and half after getting home, contractions started. We went to the hospital around 10:30-11pm with no traffic on a Monday night downtown. We had one traffic light stop at Michigan Avenue. That stop was my second worst contraction during my labor.

My best advice about working and going into labor is to completely ignore pains, etc. I felt crampy during the day, but didn't think anything of it. I figured that I would dilated a bit before my appointment on my due date on Thursday. Turns out, it was the beginning of labor. I didn't have any of those worries about early labor. I just worked the day away, went home, and then went into active labor.

Kind of, I was 38 weeks and my doctor called me at about 4:30 pm asking me to come to the hospital to get induced right away because of some issues she was seeing on the ultrasound I had gotten that morning. It really took me by surprise since I wasn't expecting it. I emailed my boss and coworkers to let them know I was leaving to have a baby and I'd be back in 3 months : )

I did! But (big but), I was able to work from home for the last 2 weeks prior to my due date. I have anywhere from an hour and 15 minute to an hour and 45 minute commute depending on traffic and train schedules. The last thing I wanted was to be going into labor on my way INTO work on a train and have to ride the train home in labor.

I ended up going into labor at 10:30pm anyway :o)

@Smurfette: Same here! I work 30 minutes (with no traffic) from our house and hospital. I'm just hoping that whatever happens, I am either already at home or will be able to drive myself home.

I have a couple good work friends though, so I think if for some reason, I really can't drive myself, they will drive me... BUT I would need someone to get my car later - it has the car seat installed in it!

I did, but I went into labor on a Sunday, and delivered LO on a Monday, 5 days early.

ETA: I was closer to the hospital at work than at home anyway, but my early labor was sooooo long and easy to deal with (i went to church and ran errands that Sunday) that I would have probably just driven myself home from work and tried to rest if it was a work day.

I went into labor with both of my kids at work; it wasn't a big deal either time. With DD, I was driving back to the office after picking up lunch for a meeting when my water broke. I asked my temp to set up lunch while I cleaned myself up (it was just a little trickle, so not much of a mess). Then I called my husband to come take me to the hospital. Getting ahold of DH was probably the most exciting part since neither he nor his boss had cell service at their lunch meeting and I ended up calling a couple restaurants around town in order to track him down.

With DS, I started having timable contractions and after a few hours I let DH know that if they were still going by 2 pm I'd go get checked out. We ate lunch together and at about 2, we jumped in the car for the hospital.
