@coacheswife123: I'm no expert but I definitely think pumping before bed would exacerbate the oversupply unless you want to do it every single night! I had oversupply issues and block feeding and him maturing a bit solved it around ... I think 12 or so weeks? We also had good luck with putting him high up on the boppy so he was "eating down" in the beginning and I'd pinch around so the flow was slower at first.

I don't know much about mastitis/clogged ducts but was terrified of thrush when I had unexpected surgery at 2 weeks PP and read up on preventing - I don't think there is any connection to oversupply or longer stretches of sleep/engorgement but I know fresh air/sunshine and letting things air out after feedings helps prevent thrush :) (so does a vinegar/water solution swab!)

Stop worrying and enjoy the sleep!!

@scg00387: I am so conflicted ! Right now when I wake up I just hand express a bit so LO doesn't choke on my letdown ! I'm just soooo scared that because of my oversupply I'm more prone to a problem ??

@coacheswife123: your body will figure it out! I personally wouldn't and don't pump. I've had no issues.

@banana: I haven't been but im thinking now that he is going about 6 hr at night I should pump both sides completely before bed ? We normally block feed. I have an over supply so I haven't wanted to encourage more production but is rather produce more than have one of these issues

I had mastitis twice with my son and I've had clogged ducts once so far with my DD. AH!! It sucks! The best prevention is to make sure to not go too long between feeding/pumping sessions and wear loose fitting bras.
