But for #2 I didnt bc the hospital was pretty clear about what their standard practice was and I was happy with it. DH also had experience then so I also trusted he could advocate for me better than with #1. I guess we went over verbally what our preferences were. With DD, I got into my room right after the shift started and the nurse wrote my instructions on a board in my room. With DS, I got into my room right before shift change and told the nurse who checked me in, she didn't write it on the board but I thought she had entered into the computer. I didn't mention it to the new nurse and in the end didn't get any skin to skin. I always felt well informed during my last delivery, so I don't feel like it's necessary at my hospital or with my doctors.
