I'm allergic to a lot of raw fruit (it's called Oral Allergy Syndrome and often paired with bad seasonal allergies) and have never outgrown it. I've had it since I was 2?

My little sister had a major allergy to eggs, tree nuts, and shellfish and a dairy intolerance.

She grew out of the egg and dairy allergy by around 4 (I can't remember, but until then, my mom always made this one recipe of eggless, dairy free cake for her birthdays), and just recently found out she's not allergic to shellfish anymore--she's 26 now.

The tree nut allergy is just as severe as ever---possibly more severe. One teeeeny bit of nut dust in her food means constricted airways, violent throwing up, rashes, etc.

DD is allergic to egg, milk and wheat. It could be other things as well because those were the only things she tested for! I'm hoping she grows out of them or the poor girl will never know real cake, cupcakes, or cookies ... Ice cream. Sigh.

@BabyBoecksMom: Nononono, in a week we find out the results of her blood test. It's out of 100. Anything above 100 means she's severely allergic (ie. she needs an Epi pen). Anything around 50 means she'll probably outgrow her allergy by the time she's 4-5. And if it's 2 or under, they'll do a live test (ie. bring her into the doctor, feed her dairy and see what happens).

Sunny had milk issues when she was tiny, but was fine after 6 months.

In other news, I was lactose intolerant until I became a mother!

My brother has. He used to be allergic to dairy, chocolate, and a bunch of other things but now he can eat almost anything. He's still allergic to nuts though. My other brother is allergic to dairy, wheat, fish, nuts, and soy, and has never grown out of any of it. I had never been allergic to anything, but a few years ago I developed allergies to shrimp.

Used to be allergic to rhubarb and strawberries! Broke out in hives! Now I have to eat like a bowl of fresh (off the vine!) strawberries before I get a few hives on my palms (I totally do this when strawberries come in season).

They are two of my faves so I am glad I can handle them now.

I think I have on/off lactose intolerance now, so bitter about it.

I used to be allergic to face paint and makeup. When I started wearing a little bit of makeup in 7th grade (pressed powder and lip gloss), I always had to get Almay or Clinique... something hypoallergenic. I outgrew it in high school (thankfully, because I'm a makeup addict!).

My LO is allergic to cow's milk, peanut, and eggs. He was tested at 13 months and again at 20 months. All allergies remain the same, but they think he may outgrow the milk and egg allergy. So far I don't see him outgrowing the milk allergy though. DH gave LO some ice cream last week just to test, and it was not pretty :(

Yes I had a dairy allergy as baby but grew out of that except for sporadic episodes throughout my life where if I drink too much milk I get acid reflux. I also tested allergic to cats but have never had a problem with them.

I'm not sure if this counts as an allergy, but I grew out of eczema by about age 6. It happened when we moved house, so my parents thought it might be the water or carpets or something specific to the first house.

My friend had a severe shellfish allergy since childhood but has recently found out through allergy testing that he is no longer allergic. He celebrated by eating shrimp for the first time - but he hated it. :)

It was discovered last year when LO was 8 months old that she had a dairy allergy. Today, my DH has taken her back to get tested (one year later) to see if she has outgrown it, as many children ultimately do. I'm still waiting to hear back.

Did you ever outgrow an allergy? SO? LO?
