Lo is 11 months and sometimes does sttn but it's really hit or miss. We have sleep trained (using different methods and of varying intensities, haha) several times. Every time her sleep improves temporarily but as soon as her next big illnesses happens, we start back at square one.</p> <p>Actually, more recently it's been my pregnancy illness that resulted in terrible sleep. My husband was in charge of all night wake ups from the end of December to just last week (because I was way too ill), and he really enables the worst sleep habits. She's 19 months old and he was doing crazy things like giving her nighttime bottles (which I phased out long ago), co sleeping most nights in her room, diaper changes in the middle of the night with turning on lights and everything---just generally doing everything "wrong" god bless him. She was starting to go back to waking up 3-4 and sometimes more times a night.</p> <p>Buutttt....I've been feeling better these past two weeks and I cracked down on all of that. No more night time milk, no more turning on lights and NO diaper changes (she doesn't poop, it's just pee), and she's back down to one quick wakeup a night (generally I just go in and lay her back down and leave the room).</p> <p>This morning, I heard her cry out and in my half asleep fog heard by husband get up. Assuming he was just going to lay her back down and leave, I tried to fall back asleep. But when I noticed him being gone a long time, I went out to find him MAKING A BOTTLE in the middle of the night. AUGH! I had to take over, send him back to bed--and all I had to do was go to her room, lay her back down with her blankie, and she fell right asleep.</p> <p>Yeah, so long story short---definitely no natural sleeping through the night in our house. However, both stopped and started waking up crying at 7 and 9 months. I'd say he STTN about 90% of the time. It's easily compromised with missed naps or traveling.</p> <p>We rock to sleep still at 1 year. My plan is to continue rocking to sleep until he's old enough to transition out of it on his own. DD gradually has dropped MoTN feedings and stretch them out on her own. At 10.5 months she started sleeping 11-12 hour stretches. They were intermittent at first, but now at 12.5 months have been consistent for the past few weeks. Waiting it out was the right decision for us, but it was definitely rough at times!</p> <p>ETA - my rule is that if she's still laying down, I don't go in unless she starts really crying. She usually goes back to sleep within 2 minutes if she's still lying down. It she was sitting/standing I go in and nurse her. He does STTN now and then, but most nights he still wakes. More often than not, I can just not go in there and he goes back to sleep. But, it's still annoying and he does sometimes need rocking. I stopped nursing him in the MOTN though. She then started teething and got sick so we were back at square one. For the past month or two she has been waking up 2-4 times per night in the earlier part of the night (9-11pm) and then again at 4am. I feel like at her age she should be STTN or at least down to only one wake up. I'm getting exhausted though so I think I need to sleep train her. I have a hard time listening to her cry though. Any tips for me? I sleep trained my oldest LO but I don't remember it being so difficult... </p>
