Thanks everyone!!!!!

I feel a little less worried that a) H is going to be in the Guiness Book of World Records for birth weight, and b) I didn't even think about body type/height being a factor in how much "room" the baby has, but that makes sense. I'm barely 5'4, and was a size 2/4 prepreg, so it would make sense that she only has out to grow!

@FutureMrsMcK: I think H is turning into a "sidecar belly" just like you had-lol;) But it does make sense that b/c you're a small person, he didn't have anywhere to go but out when he ran out of room in the end!

@Foodnerd81: I agree with you. I think pictures online can be misleading because you can't really tell how tall anyone is. If you are taller/have a longer mid-section, there's more room for baby to fit. And then there are some people who's body can just accommodate the baby inside better, and the whole bump just sits farther inside, without sticking out too far. I don't think belly size correlates to size of baby at the end for the most part.

I always measured right on but I feel like my belly had a mind of it's own by the time I delivered. Our midwife was guessing he'd be around 7lb by the size of my belly though. He was 8lb12oz. My SIL's belly with her first daughter was incredibly big, though...they were guessing her DD would be a very big baby, but she was only around 6 and a half lbs. So you never know!

And even if she does rip you open--it happens a lot. The stitches aren't bad really aren't bad, and DH says my lady parts feel the same (i.e not like vacuuming a hallway...).

For reference, my 39 week belly:

I don't know about size and weight being related, but wouldn't it make sense if you are smaller prepreg, you might get more of a belly? Plus, how tall you are-- like it seems if you are tall, there is a little more room between ribs and hips before the belly expands out, but if you are petite, there is no where to go but out? I don't know, that just makes sense in my head :)
Either way you look great!

Even when he was born the nurse was like ok I'm going to weigh him, everyone guess! I was like 8 lbs and everyone laughed! My ob guessed exact--6 lb 14 oz.

My belly was quite large, I was one of those that people would always ask if I was having twins, or if I was due any day now when I was only 5 months pregnant. Stupid people.

Anyway, lo was 8 lbs 13 ozs. Bigger then average but not too big that I needed a c section, which is what I worried about.

I didn't ask my fundal height at my last appt, but at my 34 week appt, she was measuring 35.....I will make a note to ask this week....Maybe they can give me a better idea of her weight!

@HeatherlovesKenny: Good point! I forgot that I have a "friend" on FB who took a pic on their way to the hospital, looking barely pregnant, and I thought "She's going to have a tiny baby!" Then she posted that her baby was over 8 lbs and I was shocked! I forgot about that!!!

For me, yeah. My midwife measured me at 36 weeks and told me that C was going to be between 9 and 10 lbs. She was 10lbs8oz and 22 inches long. My belly was HUUUUGE. I have a picture of me at 40+6, right before we left for the hospital... but it's probably the most unflattering picture ever so I won't post it. lol

I don't think it's related. Based on my belly and feeling around, my doctors expected LO to be in the mid-6's and short. She was 7lbs 4oz and 21 inches long. Not huge, but very different than what everyone expected.

A friend of mine has delivered two 8 pound babies but at 9 months pregnant she looked her normal, 110 pound size! A lot of people would ask her, "where is the baby?" while she was still pregnant because no one could tell. So I'm not sure it matters. The way my babies sat--made me look like I had a huge beach ball belly. They were both in the mid 8's.

Not necessarily! I think it just depends how you carry. It looks like you're all belly, doesn't mean that baby will be big :) I don't think my belly was particularly big but Leo was a healthy 7lbs 11oz.

I look at pics on the bump love thread, and have noticed that my belly is bigger than some of the recent ladies' pics that are farther ahead of me, and a few have given birth recently to reasonably-sized babies. So that makes me think that H is going to be a huge heiffer! Nervous- really, lol!

Does belly size correlate to how much LO weighs all the time?

Here's my little porker today at 36w3d....She is the same size as some of the mamas have been at 39 and 40 weeks! DH said he's going to have to start hugging me from behind bc she's so far out there....
