She was 7 lb 14 oz and 20 1/2 inches- but the Drs expected her to be up to 10 lbs- I had GD and M and I were both huge. We only had a handful of newborn clothes that were gifts/hand me downs and I bought a few Hanna things and left the tags on. Well she's now 10.5 lbs 7 weeks and still in newborn. So I vote get some, don't wash them and see what happens.

My daughter was 8 pounds 2 ounces and did not fit newborn clothes when she was born. I even tried because I had a going home outfit (from Carters) I really wanted her to wear lol, but there was no way.

My DD was 8 lbs, 9 oz and the NB outfit we brought her to wear home from the hospital didn't even snap around her neck. However, that was BRU's brand Koala Baby, which tends to run SUPER small. She still fit into NB in Carter's stuff for about 3 weeks.

DS was 8'9" and wore newborn for quite a while, at least a month I think. Even now though at 16mo he has loads of room in his 12-18m clothes, despite being really heavy. He's just solid I guess!

My (otherwise awesome) OBGYN told me not to bother with NB sizing, and to expect a 9+ pound baby. DD was close at 8'11 but lost a lot more weight than expected. She ended up swimming in her 0-3 until friends bought us newborn, which she wore for 6 weeks.

L was 8 lbs 15 oz at birth and he fit into nb but wore mostly 0-3 from the beginning. He couldn't fit into nb at all after 2 weeks. I'm bringing one nb and one 0-3 outfit to the hospital. J has measured big on past ultrasounds but you never know

LO2 was only 7 lbs 14 oz at birth but was 9 lbs 2 oz at 1 week (they grow like absolute weeds in the beginning) and only wore NB clothes for the first two weeks. As someone else mentioned, I think the problem with big babies is more often their length in NB clothes, rather than their weight/width. *Most* big newborns are still fairly skinny compared to most 3 month olds, even if they weigh the same amount.

DS1 was born at 39 weeks 10lbs 9oz at birth and went straight into birth.

DS2 was born at 37+5 at 7lbs 2oz and fit in newborn for 2-3 weeks.

If baby continues measuring big, I'd buy 0-3 months. My scans were pretty accurate for DS1. Not as accurate for DS2 but I had low fluid which makes it harder to measure the baby.

I actually went back and checked. He measured 4lb 1oz at 30 weeks, so very close to your LO!

There was no way my guy would fit new born at 9 pounds and 22.5 inches long. At 6 weeks he has out grown most his 0-3 things and I am scrambling to find bigger things! I also come from a big baby family and was pretty sure I would carry on the tradition. Some nb diapers were nice for a few days because he was so skinny. Now we are in size 2 honest co diapers and I have lots of size 1 left over...

Your going home outfit should be fine, but I wouldn't keep too much newborn clothing around.
